what we do

Training Champions for over 40 years

The Azevedo Wrestling Camps began as the “Vaughn Hitchcock Wrestling Camp” in 1967 in Clearlake, California as legendary Cal Poly Coach Vaughan Hitchcock introduced to California prep wrestlers the technique and style of wrestling that earned Coach Hitchcock’s teams an unprecedented 8 NCAA Division II National Championships.

Through the years, tens of thousands of young men have attended the camp and have attested to the fact that their camp experiences had a direct influence on the many state and national championships won. In 2001, Coach Hitchcock handed the camp over to another California wrestling legend, the then current Cal Poly Head Coach, John Azevedo.
